BARRACUDA, HORNET and WEEVER are a set of versatile EOD tools; designed for ease of use and reliability. They are all precision tools initially designed for underwater use, and have a build in waterproof standoff, allowing charges to be deployed at depths of up to 300m. Light weight construction and simple deployment makes them also well suited for use above the surface. BARRACUDA, HORNET and WEEVER are based on the same principle of fill and use and differ only in size and power. The systems have a number of unique features which improve the performance and reliability while easing filling and deployment.
Designed for destruction of Unexploded Ordnance, these devices are intended for use with military grade plastic explosives (eg. PE4, PE7 or C4). All can be adapted to produce either a shaped charge or an Explosively Formed Projectile (EFP).
BARRACUDA
The BARRACUDA is the largest of the devices. The system has a number of unique features which improve the performance and reliability while easing filling and deployment. The explosives closure assembly ensures that, as it is screwed into position, the explosive fill is pressed into intimate contact with the liner while securely locking the detonator in the optimum position. The detonator support is designed to accommodate two detonators for use with dual path initiation systems, providing extra reliability when it is most needed.
Performance
The Barracuda 88 can reliably penetrate 280mm of EN8 steel.
HORNET
The HORNET is the middle device and very similar to the Barracuda, it is simple to assemble.
WEEVER
The WEEVER is the smallest of the group. The device can be loaded with several different natures including conventional conical, EFP and incendiary liners as well as water. The range of natures available grant the system the versatility to remove fuses, deflagrate or detonate explosive fills, gain access though bomb casings and disrupt IEDs.
The clear casing makes consistent explosive filling easy. The explosives closure assembly ensures that, as it is screwed into position, the explosive fill is pressed into intimate contact with the liner while securely locking the detonator in the optimum position. An optional tripod leg mounting attachment is also available.
Performance
The EFP reliably penetrates 25mm of EN8 steel at a stand-off distance over 300mm.
The conical liner reliably penetrates 65mm of EN8 steel using the inbuilt stand off.
